Report to the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia by the Chairman of the Faculty, [manuscript], 1829 July 10.

The report by Chairman Robley Dunglison compliments the improvement in behavior by the students, noting that only two serious punishments were inflicted by the Faculty: a parent was asked to withdraw her son "in consequence of improper conduct towards one of the hotelkeepers," and another student was dismissed for "drunken, disorderly and indecent conduct." Dunglison suggests that if the "uniform law" is strictly enforced, it will reduce the expenses of the students; however, he does not believe it will be possible to enforce the dress code "unless it be required that no other clothing be worn outside the dormitory." Dunglison comments on the typhoid epidemic that has plagued the University and suggests that the Board convert one of the hotels into an infirmary.
